Dill Pickles (Baba's Cold packed)F

Traditional cold-packed dill pickles (not canned).

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup pickling or coarse salt
  • 16 cups water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 tsp mixed pickling spice
  • fresh dill
  • 2 cloves garlic sliced

Instructions

  • Blend pickling or coarse salt, water, and vinegar together and stir until the salt is mostly dissolved.
  • Wash and pack cucumbers into sterile jars.
  • In each jar, put 1 tsp mixed pickling spice, fresh dill, and 2 sliced cloves of garlic.
  • Fill jars with the vinegar solution and let stand.
  • These pickles do not seal but develop a pickly flavor over time.
