The Ultimate Double Chocolate BrownieF

A rich and fudgy double chocolate brownie. From Mary Smith.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup baking cocoa
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ⅔ cup margarine melted and divided
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • pecans coarsely chopped, optional
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (12 oz)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine baking cocoa and baking soda.
  • Blend in 1/3 cup melted margarine.
  • Add boiling water and stir until well blended.
  • Stir in sugar, eggs, and remaining margarine.
  • Add flour, vanilla, and salt.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and pecans if using.
  • Fill a greased 13 x 9 inch pan with the batter.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes or until it begins to pull away from the pan.
